Retreats and Workshops

What is a Retreat?

In the context of Hospites Mundi it is a time apart from the pressures of our busyness with the intention of deepening our spiritual lives. We honor the Hebrew practice of Sabbath as creating space for God and many of our Retreat Days are on Saturday. Sometimes we need a longer period of silence and reflection and we offer Retreats of several days or a week. Workshops introduce us to practices which enhance our spiritual growth in fresh ways they include: The Enneagram, Lectio Divina, Dances of Universal Peace, Prayer Flags, Art as Prayer, Meditation with clay, walking the Labyrinth, Creating personal Altars, Journaling,  Poetry as Prayer, The Wisdom of Dreams and much more.

BENEDICTINE DAY.  February 27 2016.
We hold these days quarterly at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher NC. A simplified monastic day includes worship, reflection time, group discussion and prayer. Our gathering in February will take the form of a Lenten retreat and will include an opportunity to walk the indoor labyrinth. A presentation on simple prayers for everyday use will enable participants to design their own form of “monastic” pattern of daily prayer.
For regular information about upcoming Benedictine Days you may add your name to the email list by calling Calvary at 828 684 6266. This  is also the number to call for registration. Cost of the Benedictine Day is $20. Please bring a brown bag lunch; we will provide beverages and dessert.
